Camus.

The successive catastrophes - his courage - life made up of these misfortunes. He settles down into the painful cloth from which his life is woven builds up his days around his loneliness, his return home in the evening, his suspicion and disgust. People think he is tough and stoical. Really, things seem to be going quite well. One day, an insignificant incident: one of his friends speaks to him in an offhand manner. He goes home. Kills himself. - Camus
